Amon-Ra St. Brown Signs Off on Lions Draft: Detroit’s Got ‘Hella Dudes’

Amon-Ra St. Brown is all-in on what Brad Holmes built this offseason. The Lions star receiver called the Blake Miller pick exactly what Detroit needed and says this roster is stacked with talent.

Amon-Ra St. Brown doesn’t do fake hype. So when the Lions’ best receiver says he feels great about this draft class, you listen.

“We had a hole at tackle and Brad and co did a great job of addressing that,” St. Brown said. “They got a tackle that they feel like is a dog. I saw some of his highlights putting dudes on their back, finishing guys. Him and Penei are going to be a sick ass combo.”

That’s the Blake Miller pick in Round 1 — the Virginia Tech mauler who slides into Taylor Decker’s old spot while Sewell shifts to the left side. St. Brown’s already watched the tape. He sees what we all see: a nasty finisher who fits Detroit’s identity.

The Sun God’s Full Endorsement

St. Brown ran through the entire draft haul with genuine enthusiasm. Edge rusher in Round 2 to help Hutch. A Michigan linebacker. A DB from Arizona State who “looks nice.” Another receiver he’s excited to meet. Defense loaded up across the board.

“Our team’s already good,” St. Brown said. “I’m looking at all these teams like we really got hella dudes, really good players from previous drafts. It was just addressing the needs.”

He’s not wrong. This isn’t a rebuild roster hoping to compete someday. This is a Super Bowl-caliber team plugging holes with young, hungry talent.

This Roster Is Finally All Brad Holmes

Here’s what makes this offseason different: the transition is complete. No more holdovers from the old regime. No more guys on their way out the door. Frank Ragnow and Taylor Decker gave everything to this franchise, but they’re gone now. Every starter is either hitting their stride or still ascending.

The only veteran in that “established career, closer to the finish line” category? Jared Goff. That’s it. Everyone else is a Brad Holmes guy, a Dan Campbell guy, built from the ground up over four years.

That’s why the Blake Miller pick is so smart. Detroit replaced an aging tackle with a cheaper, younger, potentially better option on a rookie contract. No wasted years. No awkward roster management. Just a young team getting younger and meaner.

Oh, and St. Brown Looks Absolutely Shredded

Can’t bury this detail: the Sun God showed up looking like a different human. Cut about 5% body fat. Visibly leaner. Noticeably more dangerous.

This matters because St. Brown led the league in drops last season. That can’t happen again. Whatever he’s been doing this offseason — and he’s clearly been putting in work — the results are showing up before camp even starts.

If this defense stays healthy and the offense gets the ball to their playmakers, Detroit has as much talent as any team in the NFL. St. Brown knows it. Brad Holmes built it. Now it’s time to go prove it.

The Takeaways

  • St. Brown is fully bought in on Blake Miller, calling him and Penei Sewell ‘a sick ass combo’ at tackle
  • The Lions roster is now completely rebuilt — no holdovers from the old regime except arguably Goff
  • St. Brown dropped significant body fat this offseason after leading the league in drops last year
