Antoine Davis sets NCAA 3-point record in win

It has been a history-making week for University of Detroit-Mercy guard Antoine Davis. First, against Youngstown State earlier in the week, he became just the 3rd Division one player to surpass 500 career three-pointers. Then on Saturday down at Calihan Hall, he hit his 510th three-pointer of his career. He passed guard Fletcher Magee of Wofford College, who played from 2015 to 2019.

He finished the first half with 26 points. On the day, he finished with 41 points as the Titans got the win, 87-75 over Robert Morris. It was the second straight game in which he scored 30 points or more, going 15-for-26 from the field. Davis is chasing the all-time scoring record now. He will need just 18 points to surpass Portland State’s Freeman Williams, who scored 3,249 points from 1974 to 1978. Interesting fact about Williams, he had a small part in the 90’s movie “White Man Can’t Jump”.

The Titans are off until next Saturday until they travel to Indiana to take on IUPUI, who are winless in the Horizon League so far this season.
