Blues’ Hold off Late Surge by Red Wings to Win 4-3

The Detroit Red Wings faced off against the St. Louis Blues at Little Caesars Arena in what turned out to be a closely contested matchup. After a hot start in the first period with back-to-back goals by Simon Edvinsson and Jake Walman less than two minutes into the game, Detroit was unable to maintain their early momentum. St. Louis went on to score four unanswered goals, giving them a 4-2 lead heading into the third period. Despite a late goal by Alex Chiasson, his fifth as a Red Wing. Detroit was unable to send the game to overtime, ultimately falling to the Blues 4-3. The Red Wings will now look to bounce back as they travel to Philadelphia to take on the Flyers in a Saturday afternoon matchup.

In just his third game since joining the Detroit Red Wings. Highly sought-after prospect Simon Edvinsson found himself making an impact on the score sheet. Edvinsson scored his first NHL goal tonight, but after the game, he wasn’t completely satisfied with his performance. Edvinsson acknowledged that he made some mistakes during the game. Taking two penalties that he felt he could have avoided. “That goal might’ve been the ugliest goal in Red Wings History for a first goal,” Edvinsson said. “But as for myself, I took two penalties. I need to step up there.”
