Bruins Goon Marchand Disses Detroit on Twitter

Detroit vs. Everybody. That’s the motto that has come to embody the city of Detroit and its fierce loyalty to its sports teams. Earlier this week, Micah Parsons took an unnecessary shot at Detroit that Stick highlighted in an article right here on the WSN website. So when Boston Bruins left winger Brad Marchand took a swipe at the city as a potential host for the 2025 NHL All-Star Game, Detroit sports fans were quick to come to their city’s defense.

Marchand, known for speaking his mind both on and off the ice, recently commented on a post discussing the proposed destinations for the 2025 All-Star Game, which included Seattle, Edmonton, and Detroit. In response to the post, Marchand wrote, “Lol can’t wait to see how many guys boycott that game.”

As soon as Detroit sports fans caught wind of Marchand’s comment, they were quick to fire back. The Motor City is no stranger to harsh winter weather. And residents take pride in their ability to weather any storm. The idea that players would boycott the All-Star Game because of the city’s cold climate was seen as a direct insult to the city and its residents.

Damage Already Done

Marchand attempted to clarify his comments in a recent interview. He stated that his comments were made in jest and not meant to be taken seriously. However, the damage had already been done, and Detroit sports fans were not willing to let the comment slide.

For Detroit, this latest incident is just another example of the city being disrespected by those outside of it. Marchand may not have meant any harm with his comments. But the goon has now found himself on the receiving end of Detroit’s wrath.

For Detroit sports fans, this is just another opportunity to show their unwavering support for their city and its teams. And as they have done time and time again, they will continue to rally around Detroit and defend it against anyone who dares to speak ill of it. We’re looking at you, Aaron Rodgers, Micah Parsons and Brad Marchand.
