Buffalo Bills to host the Cleveland Browns at Ford Field

For the second time in franchise history the Buffalo Bills will call Ford Field home when the Bills face the Cleveland Browns Sunday at 1 p.m.

A massive snowstorm is expected to dump three to six feet of snow making it impossible to play at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, N.Y.

The Bills are not expected to make this an extended road trip. General Manager Brandon Beane said the team will fly back to Buffalo Sunday after the game, then return later in the week to face the Detroit Lions.

“Due to public safety concerns and out of an abundance of caution in light of the ongoing weather emergency in western New York, Sunday’s Cleveland Browns-Buffalo Bills game will be moved to Ford Field in Detroit,” the NFL said in a statement on Thursday. “The decision to move the game from Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, NY was done in consultation with the Buffalo Bills and local and state authorities as the region prepares for the storm.”

Tickets are expected to go on sale Friday. Bill season ticket holders get first crack at tickets but there are travel advisories and people are advised not to drive to Detroit. There should be plenty of seats for Detroit fans. Check out the Ford Field website. Many events planned there have links to tickets. Ticketmaster and vividseats.com could also be ticket outlets.

A 2014 Bills game against the New York Jets was moved to Ford Field due to a storm. The game, scheduled for a Sunday, was moved to Monday night.

Adam Schefter reported the possibility of the move because of concerns in New York.

An update to the story as the Bills will be playing in Detroit on Sunday per the update by Adam Schefter of ESPN.com

Buffalo Bills wouldn’t be the first time Detroit has hosted another team.

In 2010 the Minnesota Vikings had to move their game to Ford Field because of a dome collapse.

The Viking vs Giants game was moved and played in front of a crowd of majority Detroit fans.  It was a cool experience. I will  definitely be attending and hanging out with the Bills mafia. The more NFL football in this city, the better!
