CD Projekt Red dumps 500 plus fixes for Cyberpunk 2077 in the latest patch

Cyberpunk 2077 was one of the most anticipated games of 2020. However, the launch of the game was plagued by glaring performance issues on older consoles. The game publisher CD Projekt Red released an unfinished product that they promised would work across all consoles. While they didn’t meet us with that promise, CD Projekt Red has released a new patch for Cyberpunk 2077 that fixes over 500 issues on PC and consoles.

When the company sold 13 million copies in the first two weeks, we should have expected a few bugs for a generally untested game. CD Project Red has created patch after patch, and to see a whopping 500 plus issues resolved shows how incomplete Cyberpunk 2077 is. Those 13 million copies sold did not align with the marketing campaign and months of footage of CDPR’s project.

On the bright side, CDPR is being more transparent about its approach to fixing the game. After battling with a ransomware attack on the company’s computer, they are ready to update and elevate Cyberpunk 2077; Hopefully to the heights previewed in pre-release footage.

Cyberpunk is still nowhere to be found on PSN

According to an Axios interview with a CDPR rep, the new patch should demonstrate that they’re not bailing on the game. Unfortunately, there’s no official word about when Cyberpunk will make its way back onto the PlayStation Network. The previous removal of the game from the PSN is eating into potential sales, but a deluge of fans swarmed PS customer service for refunds – refunds that CDPR announced. Still, neither Sony nor any other company officially backed the move.

Fortunately, anyone still interested in playing Cyberpunk on PlayStation can find a physical copy. Now is one of the best times to grab the game due to its increased performance. Yet, many gamers may hold out for the Xbox Series X/PS5 enhanced version of the game, which the developer aims to release in the second half of 2021. I personally enjoyed my time with Cyberpunk, but I decided not to finish the game to feel motivated once it is enhanced.

My favorite Cyberpunk 2077 Fixes

While I won’t list the hundreds of fixes CDPR released, I will highlight the ones that dragged down my experience.

Collisions: Collisions will no longer fail to stream in randomly during driving, which could lead to V driving into buildings and falling out of the world.

  • It did not occur a game-breaking number of times, but it’s never a good look.

Holocalls: Fixed an issue where some dialogue lines could be missing during holocalls.

  • On more than one occasion, I experienced missing dialogue in holocalls and outside of them.

NPC Clipping: Fixed multiple issues related to NPCs clipping with objects.

  • Hopefully, they won’t clip with other NPCs either. Once upon a time, I witnessed two NPCs run in terror when nothing happened. They proceeded to run toward the same wall and then clipped together while endlessly running against the wall.

Floating Assets: Fixed multiple issues with assets floating in the air.

  • Whether it was a firearm, a random cup, or other objects, something floats in the air at every turn.
