The CFP Rankings when you “set aside watching games…”

42

The CFP Committee Rankings after week 11:

  1. Georgia
  2. Alabama
  3. Oregon
  4. Ohio State
  5. Cincinatti
  6. Michigan
  7. Michigan State
  8. Notre Dame
  9. Oklahoma St.
  10. Wake Forest

Does head to head matter?

Here’s my gripe with this CFP list, it lacks transparency. Okay, so Oregon is ranked above Ohio State because they beat them head to head, right? Well, then you look at 6 and 7 and realize, head to head must not matter because Michigan is ranked above MSU who had beaten them three weeks prior.

When explaining the committee’s ranking decisions when it came to Michigan and Michigan State, Gary Barta started his response with “set aside watching the games…” OK, fine. Michigan looks like more of a complete team than Michigan State. But tOSU looks more complete than Oregon- who beat them at the beginning of their season before freshman QB CJ Stroud settled in.

I would also argue that Michigan AND Michigan State look better than Cincinnati- regardless of their undefeated season. But, hey, I guess it makes total sense, as long as you’re not watching the games.

What (Kennedy thinks) the rankings SHOULD be…

  1. Georgia
  2. Ohio State
  3. Alabama
  4. Oregon
  5. Michigan State
  6. Michigan
  7. Cincinatti
  8. Notre Dame
  9. Oklahoma St.
  10. Baylor
