Could Erik Karlsson be on the Detroit Red Wings Radar?

86

The Detroit Red Wings (9-5-4) have been on and off to start the season, having some great games meanwhile some bad games. Defense being one of the biggest problems through 18 games.

Detroit’s defense so far has been average at best. Defensively they have shown they can be lockdown at times, meanwhile they have also had some tough outings. The Red Wings have had four games where they opposing team has scored  5+ goals.  Some nights they can’t just string a full 60 minutes together. Constantly missing assignments in their zone leading to the game slipping through their fingers.

Offensively, we seen flashes that they can produce, but it hasn’t been consistent. The defensive core has heated up as of late scoring six goals in the past two games, having only scored four in the first 16 games.

Could Erik Karlsson be on the Red Wings Radar?

Erik Karlsson in 2019, signed a 8-year – 92 million dollar deal with San Jose Sharks with average annually of 11.5 million. Karlsson who hasn’t played more than 56 games since 2017 with Ottawa, seems to be healthy as ever. Off to nearly the hottest start to his career Karlsson has 29 points (11 G, 18 A) through 21 games with San Jose this season. Rumors have spiraled around the league that the star Defensemen could be on the move come deadline. Could Detroit be one of the possible destinations?

What Could Detroit Offer?

Filip Hronek is having a fantastic start to the season, certainly has been stepping up in the slow start of Mo’ Seider. Hronek has 14 Points (4G, 10A) with a +8 on the year. Hronek has undoubtedly played well this year for the Red Wings but he would most likely be apart of any deal that Detroit could possibly offer. If any deal was to be made, Im sure draft picks would be involved but here are some of the expiring contracts for the Red Wings that could be pieces in the trade.
