Colby Covington is one step closer to a title shot after a dominating performance over Tyron Woodley. Colby earned a TKO over Woodley at 1:19 in the 5th round, but the fight oddly ended when Woodley winced in pain and shouted about a rib injury.
Covington relied on his take down skills to keep Woodley out of striking distance and dictate the fight. The 16-2 fighter used his post fight interview time to call out both Jorge Masvidal and Kamaru Usman. Usman (current UFC Welterweight champ) defeated Covington via TKO victory in the 5th round at UFC 245. Masvidal on the other hand has bad blood with Covington that needs to be settled. Either fight is guaranteed to be a good match up, but Masvidal should be next. Masvidal and Covington have both lost to Usman and the champ is set to fight Gilbert Burns at UFC 256.
