“Detroit Lions Unveil 2023 Schedule, Celebrate 90th Season with Five Prime Time Games”

Lions Kick-off Season against Super Bowl Champions

Detroit Lions have released their 2023 regular season schedule, marking their 90th season with five games under national spotlight. The Lions are set to begin the season away against the reigning Super Bowl victors, the Kansas City Chiefs. This premier showdown, launching the NFL’s 272-game regular season, is the Lions’ first visit to Arrowhead Stadium since 2003.

Lambeau Field Lit Up for Thursday Night Football

Week 4 sees the Lions return to Lambeau Field for a Thursday Night Football face-off with the Packers. This marks their third consecutive night game there and the fourth in half a decade. Also, this is the Lions’ inaugural Thursday game against the Packers in Green Bay.

Monday Night Showdown with Raiders

In Week 8, the Lions welcome the Las Vegas Raiders to Ford Field for their first Monday Night Football game since 2018, broadcast on ESPN. The Raiders’ first visit since 2015 marks the third Lions-Raiders Monday night clash, following 1990 and 1984 encounters.

Thanksgiving Day Classic: Lions vs. Packers

On November 23, the Lions host the Packers for their 84th Thanksgiving Day Classic. This will be their 22nd Thanksgiving clash and first since 2013. Airing nationally on FOX, this game also concludes the Lions’ third and final Thursday game for the season, equalling the franchise record set in 2000.

Lions Meet Old Friends in Week 13

Post-Thanksgiving, the Lions head to New Orleans to battle the Saints in Week 13, as Head Coach Dan Campbell and Defensive Coordinator Aaron Glenn face their former franchise.

Final Weeks: Vikings, Cowboys, and Vikings Again

Week 16 sees the Lions confront the Minnesota Vikings, the first of two games within three weeks. The Lions then face the Dallas Cowboys in a first-ever Saturday showdown in Week 17, before hosting the Vikings in their season finale in Week 18.

Flexible scheduling for Sunday Night Football can be utilized up to twice between Weeks 5-10, and at the NFL’s discretion during Weeks 11-17, including Monday Night Football during Weeks 12-17. This allows games to be moved between afternoon and night slots to accommodate for compelling match-ups.
