Detroit Red Wings look to avoid a Shark bite

The Detroit Red Wings (7-5-4) have now dropped 4 games in row, heading into their matchup tonight against the San Jose Sharks. As a team they’ve shown flashes that they can compete with the best in the NHL, but they haven’t been able to close out games. Meanwhile just like the Detroit Lions are finding new ways to lose. Detroit has had two constant problems throughout these 16 games. One being they can’t close a game out after clearly being the better team. The other problem being exploited defensively chasing early, having to battle back into games. The Red Wings will need to play a full 60 minutes to slow down Erik Karlsson and the Sharks.

Gentry’s Detroit Red Wings’ Skater to Watch

Tyler Bertuzzi will be my skater to watch tonight. The Red Wings Star forward returned to the lineup Tuesday night after missing 12 games. In what was a long awaited return, Bertuzzi for the most part played great. But then came overtime. Where he had a turnover trying to clear the puck that ended up costing Detroit the game. I don’t think one bad play will define him meanwhile carry over into the next game.  Bertuzzi’s gritty play style along with being able to find the back of the net with ease, was crucial for the Red Wings last season.

Tyler is clearly a player that brings that best from those around him. I’ve constantly said while Bertuzzi was out, that both Lucas Raymond and Dylan Larkin are clearly missing his presence. If Detroit wants to end this 4 game losing streak, Bertuzzi along with his line-mates need to heat up.
