TJ Dillashaw has been sidelined for almost two years due to a doping suspension in 2019. Now, the former champ wants a shot at the belt with his return to the octagon in 2021.During a recent interview with Brett Okamoto with ESPN, Dillashaw stated that is ready to make his return to the octagon and wants nothing short of a title shot.
I want that title fight right away. You’ve got a guy in Petr Yan who beat someone for the belt that is 0-2 in the division. Jose Aldo has two losses at 135 pounds; you beat him for the title and you’re calling yourself a champion? That belt has changed hands every fight. No one there has dominated. That’s my belt, and I want to come back to a title fight.

That’s a little bit of a joke. I wouldn’t mind beating his ass, but he’s not even in the top 15. I’m looking to fight for a title and the guy is not even in the top 15. I guess if UFC made it worth my while. I would love to whoop his ass; it would feel good, but it’s kind of a joke.

Should Dillashaw Get An Immediate Title Shot Or Work His Way Up In The Division?
Truth be told TJ Dillashaw was one of the most dominant champs in UFC Bantamweight history. With victories over Renan Barão, John Lineker, and Cody Garbrandt, Dillashaw proved he is a true champion. The only issue I have with giving TJ an instant title shot is his previous steroids usage. You can be the best MMA fighter on the planet, but once you use steroids you’ll be labeled a cheater forever. Now that TJ has learned from his mistakes I’d like to see him get at least one fight in before just immediately getting a shot at the belt. Why not set Dillashaw up against Cory Sandhagen to see who is the next true title contender? If he passes the test and beats a top contender then set up a title shot.
