Fantasy Football Sit/Start Week 9

52

Week 9 of the Fantasy Football Season is here! If you’ve been following us weekly hopefully you are dominating your league. Here are Anson’s picks!

Fantasy Football Week 9 is starting to turn into a game of ‘Last Man Standing’. At this point, unless you have healthy studs, you should be closely following your players’ matchups and basing any close calls on the defense being faced.. There are a few teams giving up massive weekly fantasy points. And then there are the Pittsburgh’s of the NFL. Stay away from those guys! Here is you sit/start list for Week 9.

QUARTERBACK Fantasy Football Week 9

START

Ben Roethlisberger PIT

We haven’t seen Big Ben’s name on any start lists this year. The run game has been strong in Pittsburgh, but that hasn’t been the case for the passing offense. What do you do when your passing offense needs help in 2020? Play the Cowboys! Big Ben needs to be in your lineup this week.

Also consider starting…
Josh Allen BUF – Like Big Ben, Josh has a ‘Get Right Game’ against Seattle
Kirk Cousins MIN – He is playing the Lions. ‘Nuff said.

SIT

Tua Tagovailoa MIA (Rookie)

Tua is 1-0 in the NFL. He is 0-1 at throwing for 100 or more yards. It was only his first game starting in the NFL, but despite the win, Tua looked pretty brutal from a fantasy standpoint. Get him OUT of your lineups immediately. Be sure to fade Davante Parker and Preston Williams as well.

Also consider sitting… Lamar Jackson BAL – Lamar is no longer an automatic start. And Indy is not a team you want your QB to be starting against. Cam Newton NE – How bad are the Jets? Just a little worse than Cam’s been.

RUNNING BACK Fantasy Football Week 9

START

Philip Lindsey DEN

This is probably the first and last time I’ll be recommending Lindsey. His matchup against Atlanta combined with Melvin Gordon’s poor play should have him heavy on your radar. He has looked sharp since returning from injury and the Atlanta matchup gives him plenty of room to run and catch the ball

Also consider starting…
Antonio Gibson WAS – He draws the Giants this week. Gibson owners will be happy. David Johnson HOU – Another nice draw…Johnson should put up 15+ pts against Jacksonville.

SIT

Mike Davis CAR

McCaffrey is back this week just in time for an awesome matchup with Kansas City. Carolina will be trailing, so whoever is in the backfield for the Panthers is gonna get a ton of targets. That will be Davis on occasion, but not enough to be in your lineup. It was fun while it lasted.

Also consider sitting…
Jonathan Taylor IND – Taylor is getting less and less work. And you don’t want any part of him against Baltimore this week. Le’Veon Bell KC – The committee in KC is killing both running backs’ value. Choose the rookie over the vet.

WIDE RECEIVER Fantasy Football Week 9

START

Antonio Brown TB

Please understand this is not a volume pick. Brown will get eased into the offense. But having gotten to know Tom Brady over the last 20 years, I see him making sure Brown is a part of the offense early on. The two are comfortable together and Brady will look to silence the critics early. I love Brown for 4/75/1 this week.

Also consider starting… JuJu/Dionate/Claypool PIT – Any and every Pittsburgh receiver should feast on the Dallas defense. Jerry Juedy ATL – Denver will need Juedy to stay in this high scoring affair, especially with a banged up Tim Patrick.

SIT

DeVante Parker MIA

Tua looks like Kryptonite to Parker’s fantasy value after one week as the starting QB in Miami. If you’ve been relying on Parker up to this point, now might be your last chance to get something for him in a trade. It looks like Myles Gaskin and Jason Sanders are the only Dolphins you can trust going forward.

Also consider benching… Amari Cooper DAL – He is the focus of incoming defenses now that Dallas is starting a high school quality QB. Scotty Miller TB – I hope you enjoyed it while it lasted. Antonio Brown puts an end to Scotty’s fantasy relevance.

TIGHT END Fantasy Football Week 9

START

TJ Hockenson DET

I think the biggest beneficiary of Kenny Golladay being injured will be the Lions starting tight end and not Marvin Jones. Jones will get plenty of Red Zone work, but I see TJ as the chain mover on Sunday. The game flow should keep Hock involved in the offense for all 60 minutes.

Also consider starting… Hayden Hurst ATL – I’d have Hurst as my top start this week if I knew Calvin Ridley was gonna be out or not.

Noah Fant DEN

Fant will see plenty of targets in order for Denver to keep up with Atlanta’s passing game.
SIT

Jonnu Smith TEN

The fun is over for Smith owners. A mild one game injury has sunk him into a TE committee. He may get back to 7/8 targets a game, but for now, 3 targets a game just isn’t gonna cut it. When you add in the stingy Bears defense, I just don’t see this being the week things change for Jonnu owners.

Also consider sitting… Mike Gesicki MIA – Consider sitting him and consider WAIVING him. Give Tua one more week before doing the latter.
Trey Burton IND – Trick plays won’t be enough this week against the Ravens D.
