Fantasy Football QUARTERBACK
Andy Dalton DAL –
The Red Rocket has somehow found himself back in fantasy prominence thanks to Dak Prescott’s…ankle…er… protuberance. The #1 offense finds itself a new QB. Pair that with one of the worst defenses in the league and you get a really sweet situation. I think Dalton is still good enough to put up great numbers. Dalton had a chance to be a top 10 QB to finish the season.
Matt Stafford DET –
This pick is for Stick. If you missed out on last week’s Fantasy Football guys and need some QB help, Stafford gets a healthy offense for the first time this week, and he also has two cherry matchups coming up against Jacksonville and Atlanta who can’t stop anyone. I don’t love him, but he can get you some solid outings in the short term.

RUNNING BACK
Alexander Mattison MIN –
Down goes Dalvin. Nothing new to see here. I hope you own Mattison if you own Cook, because now its gonna cost you to get the Vikings backup. Mattison, in my opinion, is one of the top 5 handcuffs in the league…and not just because Minnesota is a run first team. He has a career average of 4.73 yards per carry and is equally adept catching the ball out of the backfield. It may only be for 1 week with Minnesota on a week 7 bye, but he is a week winner.
Cam Akers LAR (Rookie) –
The committee situation in Los Angeles isn’t enough to scare me away from this massively talented rookie. An early injury opened the door for Darrell Henderson to grab some early season carries, but I promise you Akers is the back to own for Fantasy Football in LA. He ripped a 46 yarder on Sunday, has great hands and we’ve seen the lead back for the Rams is worth a spot in your starting lineup.
Devonta Freeman NYG –
I’m the first to admit I hate the Giants offense. They will be playing from behind most of the season, but that’s not a bad thing for Freeman. He has cemented himself as the 3 down back in New York, meaning he is gonna get a ton of targets out of the backfield. He honestly looked pretty good this week as a ball carrier as well.

Fantasy Football WIDE RECEIVER
Chase Claypool PIT (Rookie) –
Wow. Claypool blew up Sunday in Fantasy Football for a 7/110/3 line with a 4th TD on the ground. Wow. He’s available in most leagues and he honestly looked like the new ‘guy’. But I’m not completely sold. Diontae Johnson went down early opening things up for Claypool. He’s still averaging over 20 yards per catch and probably should be your number 1 priority, add unless you’re desperate at other positions. We know the value the #1 WR has in Pittsburgh…we just need to figure out who that is.
Brandin Cooks HOU –
I’m a little reluctant to put Cooks here. But much like Pittsburgh, the Texans have an offense that should sustain numbers for a top end fantasy receiver. I don’t think Will Fuller is that player. Up until last week, that plater certainly was NOT Brandin Cooks. There’s no denying the 8/161/1 line he posted or the 16 targets he saw come his way. If he is available in your league…he shouldn’t be after this week.
Last Week’s Waiver Picks: The jury’s out on Patrick, but despite 11 targets, any Jet is tough to trust with Flacco’s playing.

TIGHT END
Irv Smith Jr MIN –
I was big fan of this guy coming out of ‘Bama last year. The run first attitude of the Vikings has kept him off of people’s waiver radars. His 4/64 line on Sunday I think is a sign of good things to come. Temper your expectations, but half of fantasy teams are struggling at TE. There are way worse options, with way lower floors out there starting for some owners.
Cameron Brate TB –
I think we all hoped the ball would go Gronk’s way with Oj Howard done for the year. But I think we saw Gronk’s days of fantasy football relevance are behind him. Brate isn’t a world beater, but he will have a few big games this year. And again, there are worse TE’s starting for other owners at this point.
