Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Week 13

84

Fantasy Football Week 13 is here! Your playoff push in NOW! Make sure you grab these guys off the Week 13 Waiver Wire.

The 2020 NFL Fantasy Football Season has truly been a war of attrition. Undoubtedly, every owner in fantasy had to replace a starter in their lineup in week 12 for one reason or another. The rest of the season will be no different. You will most likely need to fill a hole in your starting lineup every week through championship week, so this week isn’t so much about finding the guy for this Sunday, it’s about getting the guy now in Week 13, that ends up being a viable option when you end up needing him in week 15 or 16. Championships will be won on the waiver wire this week…

QUARTERBACK Fantasy Football Week 13

Mitchell Trubisky – CHI

I am not a fan of this guy as many of you know. But his work against the Packers on sunday is undeniable. After riding the pine for 8 weeks, Mitch retook the starting gig and impressed. The job will be his for the rest of the season I believe, which means games against Det, Hou, Min & Jac to finish the season. If he is available, make sure he is part of your final month arsenal. I promise you, he will end up starting for you at least 1 of those contests.

Ryan Fitzpatrick – MIA

Tua was a late scratch like many in week 12. The Dolphins are a playoff team, so I believe FitzMagick’s run as the starter will be short. But he proved last week he is a capable fantasy starter while running the Miami offense. It could be 1 week, it could be 3, either way he will be an asset on your bench and possibly as a one week week starter.

RUNNING BACK

Austin Ekeler – LAC/Raheem Mostert – SF

These two are both fairly obvious so I won’t go too far into my breakdown on either player. They make the list because they both are back after extended stays in the infirmary, which means a desperate owner in your league may have cut them a few weeks ago. Make sure neither of them is available, before commiting to anyone else with your waiver priority. If either is sitting on your free agent list, they should be your #1 priority add going into week 13.

Benny Snell – PIT

Steelers starting tailback James Conner is one of the latest victims of Covid 19. He may only miss a week, or the undefeated Steel Curtain could take their time bringing him back, with an eye towards their upcoming playoff run. This is a guy who would look great in your week 13 lineup as well as your week 16 lineup if Pittsburgh doesn’t rush Conner’s return.

Ito Smith – ATL

The Falcons are playing for draft position at this point. More importantly, Gurley’s knee is finally catching up with him. With nothing to play for, I can see Atlanta shutting him down for the rest of the season. Plenty of owners will rush to pick up Brian Hill, but considering Atlanta is usually playing from behind, my preference is for passing down specialist Ito Smith. He had more touches than Hill in week 12 and looked a little more dynamic. He’s another guy that will fit into your starting lineup at least once, before you win your championship in week 16.

WIDE RECEIVER

Brandin Cooks/Randall Cobb – HOU

Immediately after Texans #1 wideout Will Fuller posted the 2nd best game of his 5 year career, the NFL announced he would be suspended for the next 6 games for PED’s, effectively ending his 2020 campaign. Brandin Cooks immediately steps into the #1 role in DeShaun Watson’s high octane offense. Randall Cobb will also have sneaky good value in Fuller’s extended absence. Cooks may just be good enough to be an every week starter for you through the rest of 2020.

Deebo Samuel – SF

Technically the 49ers are still in the playoff hunt, but that could change as soon as this Sunday. George Kittle is unlikely to return this season and if San Francisco has nothing to play for, they will have no reason to rush stud rookie Brandon Aiyuk back to the playing field. If that ends up being the case, the 49er offense will go through Deebo for the rest of the season. In week 12, that meant 11 catches on 13 targets. Those are championship numbers. Deebo and Cooks should be priority adds if Ekeler and Mostert are still rostered.

TIGHT END

George Kittle – SF

You heard it here first…there is a solid chance the 2nd best TE in football returns and is available for your fantasy playoffs. RUN to your free agency list and see if an owner in your league dropped him out of frustration after most reports had Kittle missing the rest of 2020. The former Hawkeye has a history of playing through injury, which means the coaches may not be able to keep him off the field before the end of the season. If that ends up happening, he just might be the guy that wins you a championship. I slot him immediately behind Mostert/Ekeler in terms of priority. Fingers crossed he’s available for you.

Luke Willson (or whoever starts Wednesday for the Ravens) – BAL

Luke may or may not be the starting TE for Baltimore on Wednesday in the absence of stud starter Mark Andrews due to Covid. We get the benefit of being able to watch and see on Wednesday night if Luke ends up as the #1 TE while Mandrews is out. If he is, I would look to add him on Thursday. If Mandrews has an extended absence from the Raven’s lineup, Willson could end up providing TE1 value in the fantasy playoffs.

Trey Burton – IND

Tight End is certainly the weakest pool of free agency players this week once again. That being said, Trey Burton has returned TE1 value the past two weeks, despite sharing reps with Alie-Cox and Doyle. Indy is playing with purpose and putting up consistent points. Burton is being used in a variety of situations for the Colts, as well as averaging about 6 targets a game over his last 3 contests. Great production if you’re desperate for a TightEnd fill-in to finish the season.
