Oakland-The Golden State Warriors have locked in on two of their key players in guard Jordan Poole and forward Andrew Wiggins. Poole has agreed to a 4-year, $140 million extension and Wiggins, a 4 -year, $109 million extension, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. The former Michigan guard’s role in Golden State has been steadily increasing since his rookie season.

Both Poole, 23, and Wiggins, 27, were integral parts to the Warriors rotation and success in winning the NBA Championship last season. Poole had a career year in points (18.5), assists (4) and rebounds (3.4), and led the league in free throw percentage (92.5%) while Wiggins got a second wind in his career, averaging 17.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, 46.6% field goal percentage and became an All-Star for the first time in his career.

Jordan Poole fits into the future of Golden State

The Warriors appear to try and keep their championship team chemistry intact.  However, after last week’s incident between Jordan Poole and Draymond Green, we will have to keep an eye on this team and see if these two can put their differences aside in hopes of helping this team repeat as NBA Champions for the second time in seven years. After reports of Poole not speaking to Green since the incident became public, it’s unclear what Draymond’s future with the team may look like.

According to ESPN’s Bobby Marks, after the extensions to Poole and Wiggins, the Warriors projected salary and luxury tax in the 2023-2024 season is listed at $483 million. That also includes forward Draymond Green opting into his $27.6 million player option extension.

With such a large amount in luxury tax, players like James Wiseman, Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody may not get the chance to resign with the team depending on what direction the team may go. In 2024, Klay Thompson will be an unrestricted free agent, along with Draymond Green, should he decide to opt into that final year of his contract.
