Future NBA MVP Award Winners

With Joel Embiid capturing his first NBA MVP award this season, that got us thinking. Who are some NBA players who can win the NBA MVP award in the future?

Here’s five players who could win the NBA MVP award in the future:

1. Luka Doncic

Doncic was a favorite to win the award this year but he will most definitely win one in the future. The big question for Luka’s potential future MVP case is what type of team he will have around him. The Dallas Mavericks are in distress right now after trading for Kyrie Irving. The trade did not work as Dallas missed the play-in a year after making the conference finals. The MVP is usually on one of the best teams record wise in the NBA, so it will be interesting to see how Dallas fairs in the next couple seasons. Nonetheless, Luka Doncic is a generational talent who will likely win multiple MVPs in the NBA.

2. Giannis Antetokounmpo

While Giannis has already won two MVP’s, I would still predict he wins another one in the future. While he is in the prime of his career, Giannis is arguably the best player in the NBA. The Greek Freak’s future with Milwaukee still could be in question. His Bucks were eliminated in embarrassing fashion in the first round of the playoffs, leaving the future of the Bucks in question. Although Giannis’ supporting cast is getting up there in age, you can make the argument that the Bucks will be a top four seed any year with a healthy Giannis.

3. Jayson Tatum

The best player on one of the brightest young teams in the NBA, Jayson Tatum will lead the Boston Celtics to greatness. Tatum has all the tools to be one of the best players in the NBA and will have a very formable team around him. Tatum’s all-around game is very underrated, and he has shown to be a great two-way player. The Celtics will continue to sit atop of the eastern conference for years to come, with Jayson Tatum being at the forefront of it.

4. Zion Williamson

This will be a controversial pick, but I think most people will agree Zion has the potential to win an MVP one day. In his fourth season, Zion averaged 26.0 points a game in 29 games for the Pelicans. The question with Zion will always be his health. He has the potential to average 30 points a game and shoot close to 60% over the course of a season, but will need to stay on the court. The Pelicans had a very tough decision in deciding whether to keep Williamson around and only time will tell if that pays off. The talent has always been there, now we just need to hope he can stay healthy.

5. Victor Wembanyama

The most hyped NBA prospect since LeBron James? Maybe and if you believe the hype, then you should believe that Wemby will be good enough to be an MVP one day. While we don’t know what team Wembanyama will start his career with, the tools are there for him to dominate the NBA one day. If may be premature, but if you believe in the phenomenon that is Victor Wembanyama, than an MVP in his future doesn’t seem too far out of reach. It will be fascinating to see what franchise Wemby could potentially chase greatness with.
