Yesterday the Detroit Lions announced the firing of Aubrey Pleasant. Former Lion Glover Quin took notice and threw his hat in the ring for the opening.

Lets face it, any replacement cant produce much worse results than the Lions have presented so far into this season. The give up almost 400 yards in the air, give up damn near 35 points a game and really have no answers with how to get better.
I, for one, think the Pleasant firing was more just to save face for Dan Campbell and crew. But, really how much of a difference will getting rid of a DB coach do for this season? I hope I’m wrong. This just seemed like a move to make a move. To show you still are trying to improve. I just don’t think this helps us improve.
Glover Quin Playing Career
Quin played 6 years here in Detroit. He was a part of some of the best defensive teams this city has ever seen.
In his 6 years, Quin produced. He played and started in 96 games, with 19 Ints, 423 tackles and was also named to a Pro Bowl in 2014.
Quin was a fan favorite here in Detroit before his retirement and I’m sure he would be welcomed back with open arms.
Lions Fill DB Coaching Position
Campbell announced that Brian Duker will take over Pleasant’s responsibilities. Pleasant joined the Lions as part of Campbell’s original staff in 2021.
According to DetroitLions.com the Bio on Duker reads as follows:
“Brian Duker enters his second season on Detroit’s coaching staff, and his first season overseeing the team’s safeties. Prior to 2022, Duker worked on staff as a defensive assistant, working closely with the secondary unit and team’s defensive passing game strategies. Duker came to Detroit after spending the previous three seasons (2018-20) assisting the Baltimore Ravens’ defense. He originally joined the Ravens as a defensive staff assistant/coaching analyst in 2018.
In his three seasons with Baltimore, the Ravens allowed the fewest points in the NFL (872), allowed the fewest net yards (14,772), tied for fourth in forced fumbles (45) and were fifth in pass defenses (227). The Ravens won two AFC North division titles and made three playoff appearances in that span and had eight different defensive players earn a Pro Bowl berth. Baltimore’s 35 regular season victories were the third-most in the NFL in that span.
Prior to his tenure in Baltimore, Duker spent the 2016 season as a defensive analyst with the San Francisco 49ers and was a defensive intern with the Cleveland Browns in 2015.”
