Jameson Williams returns to practice

The Detroit Lions knew they had to be patient with their first-round draft pick Jameson Williams, the wide receiver out of the University of Alabama. He tore his ACL in 2021 and wasn’t expected to play in 2022. However, earlier last week, Lions head coach Dan Campbell said he was expecting a return sometime after Thanksgiving.

It appears Williams is ready to go, per the Detroit Lions Twitter feed this morning.

Jameson Williams give the Lions a potential weapon down the stretch

As Stick mentioned a few weeks back, Campbell said there was a chance that Williams was going to shut it down for the season. However, the team has won three in a row and are outside of the NFC playoff picture, looking in.

This news comes at the right time for Detroit. Lions receivers Amon St. Brown, D.J. Chark both have had ankle sprains. Josh Reynolds has missed time due to a bad back. But both Kalif Raymond and Tom Kennedy have stepped up huge over the last three games.

Having Williams back for the December stretch will be huge for Detroit’s depth. Their December schedule looks like this, as they face three NFC North foes and go back to MetLife Stadium.
