It only took 10 years, but in a recent tweet Jon Jones confirmed the age old rumor that he did in fact hide under his gym’s ring to avoid drug-testing officials. The story originated from an episode of the Joe Rogan Experience with Chael Sonnen.
During the podcast, Sonnen shared a story of Jon Jones hiding from USADA testers by literally climbing underneath the gym’s ring. Jones Hid Under The Ring Because Of Marijuana?!
If anyone is gullible enough to believe this I’d be shocked. It’s been 10 years and although people can change, I don’t think it was marijuana. Marijuana is a banned substance according to USADA, but Jones also tested positive for steroids THREE TIMES over the span of his career. Was he not able to hide from USADA then? I don’t know about you, but I’d rather be considered a pot head than a cheater, so of course if I was in this situation I’d flip the story too.
Jones and Adesanya have been attacking each other on social media for days now. The back and forth is entertaining, but I think part of the reason why Jones is choosing to battle with Israel on Twitter is because he’s is not the superstar he once was. He wants to stay relevant. A razor close decision victory over Dominick Reyes was proof that he’s not the same Jones we used to know. The only fight that makes sense right now for Jones is Adesanya. You can’t continue to call fighters out on social media and then the fight never happens. It gets old after a while and it shows you’re just trolling.
