Lavar Ball bashes “raggedy” Detroit Pistons

Anytime that Lavar Ball speaks, he will usually make a headline. And that sentiment still holds after he sounded off on the Detroit Pistons following LiAngelo Ball’s waiving.

As quickly as Lavar Ball sang praises of the Detroit Pistons, he has changed his tune just as quickly.

Sunday evening, the Detroit Pistons waived LiAngelo Ball, along with Anthony Lamb and Louis King.

And it should be no surprise to anyone that Lavar Ball had a lot to say.

In an AMA (ask me anything) session with the Bleacher Report on Monday afternoon, the elder Ball vocalized his thoughts on the move. He offered:

“I definitely have thoughts on that. The people in Detroit are great. I love the fans, but the franchise over there is raggedy as hell. They don’t know a good player. I was giving them a lottery pick for free! Has the skills to play and the notoriety to bring everybody to the game. How do you throw that out the window? They’re gonna learn the hard way. My boys are gonna end up together playing somewhere. ‘Gelo can shoot the lights out. That was raggedy what they did. But hey, they’re gonna learn the hard way.”

LiAngelo Ball didn’t see any action in either of the Pistons’ first two preseason games. In a Sunday evening 99-91 victory over the New York Knicks, he did not see any action. The Pistons listed him as DNP (did not play) for the second straight game. According to reports, the middle Ball child is dealing with an ankle injury.

Take Lavar’s words with a grain of salt.

Last year, the elder Ball said the Los Angeles Lakers would not win another championship after trading his oldest son, Zo, to the New Orleans Pelicans.

The Lakers then went on to win the 2020 NBA Championship. Hopefully, for Pistons’ fans, Ball’s notion of the organization having to “learn the hard way” means it will provide the same opposite result as his promise about the Lakers did.
