Micah Parsons shines with impressive Pro Day

Micah Parsons is going to be a first-round pick in this year’s NFL Draft. That is a given. However, the big question surrounding him is which team will select him. Parsons’ stock began to fall before this week started, slipping out of projected top-10 pick status. Questions began to arise about Parsons’ off-the-field behavior after several reports began to surface last year. One of those reports detailed alleged that Parsons participated in hazing practices against teammates. So the concern regarding behavior was for a good reason.

Well, that’s changed. At least temporarily.

On Thursday at Penn State’s Pro Day event, Parsons had an impressive showing, which should catapult him back into the discussion of being a top-10 pick.

For starters, his 40-yard dash time was beyond impressive for his build. He ran a 4.39 40-yard dash with a 6.94 3-cone and capped it off with a 10-6 broad jump.

Can I interest any Lions fans in that?

Speaking of the Lions, Parsons has reportedly had several talks with them.

During Dan Campbell’s introductory press conference, he spoke openly and honestly about all aspects of the team’s state, specifically the defense. Campbell stated that he loved more pieces on the Lions’ offense than their defense, if he was honest. With the No.7 overall pick, Campbell has a chance to do something about that.

And apparently, there is a possibility he will do that by selecting Micah Parsons.

After completing his Pro Day drills, Parsons spoke on a Zoom call session with the media, including some Detroit journalists. On that call, Parsons stated that he had several talks with the Lions, including coach Dan Campbell again today.

Could Micah Parsons be just what the doctor ordered in Detroit? Who knows? However, everyone knows how important this draft is for the Lions. Pro Football Focus ranks Parsons as the top linebacker in this year’s draft.
