Michigan State hasn’t lost since the tunnel incident at Michigan…
That shows the true colors of this Spartan team. When things seemed to fall apart, they pieced them together to put themselves in a good situation. The Old Brass Spittoon is on the line and the senior class wants to end their careers with a win. The 69th meeting between these two schools will be to see if MSU will be going bowling this year.
Indiana (3-7) takes on Michigan State (5-5) to play in what will be a snow bowl at the Woodshed at noon. MSU won in 2021 and Indiana won 24-0 in 2020. Indiana also won 24-21 in OT in 2016 so Indiana’s goal is to score exactly 24, and they will win.
The Hoosiers have played the hardest schedule by opponents winning percentage through Week 11. Cornerback Tiawan Mullen continues to be one of the leaders on defense. Mullen holds the team lead in career takeaways with his 11th. Watch for him to go up against guys Jayden Reed and Keon Coleman for MSU.
Special teams are where IU definitely holds the advantage over Michigan State. The Hoosiers’ place kicker, Charles Campbell, is top 10 in FGs made for an Indiana kicker’s career. Punter James Evans is currently in first in the NCAA for punts downed inside of the 20-yard line and 10-yard line. Michigan State still has no consistency at place kicker and won’t find any until after the season.

MSU’s defense has played really well, starting with the Michigan game. Indiana doesn’t run the football well or throw it great, either. I fully expect this to be a low scoring and sloppy game. Cal Haladay is coming off back to back defensive players of the week and continues to be great. Xavier Henderson is going to be celebrating his last game at Spartan Stadium and looks to continue leading this defense.
Jayden Reed, Jacob Slade, and Bryce Baringer are all celebrating their senior days as well. I expect to see the Jayden Reed and Payton Thorne connection at least one more time at Spartan Stadium before the end of this game. Jalen Berger had 16 carries for 85 yards and a touchdown last game against Rutgers. Look for him to get going once again against the Hoosier.
Prediction: MSU 27 Indiana 10 and the Spartans become bowl eligible
