Miguel Cabrera set to retire in 2023

Over the weekend, Miguel Cabrera spoke to Christina De Nicola of MLB.com before his annual charity event and said that 2023 would be his final season in baseball. The news broke per a tweet by Jason Beck of MLB.com.

Ahead of his charity gala this week in Miami, Miguel Cabrera reiterates to @CDeNicola13 that 2023 will be his final season.
"It feels a little weird to say that," he said. "I thought I'm not going to say never, but I think it's time to say goodbye to baseball."

Cabrera earlier this season he would like to work with the Tigers in some capacity and mentioned that again over the weekend.

Miguel Cabrera also said he'd like to stay involved in Tigers organization and help young players once his own playing career is over.
"I have time to decide, but my goal is to stay in baseball, try to help, because I love baseball," he said.

2023 is the final year of his contract, in which he is set to earn $32 million dollars. Miguel has accomplished so much, while wearing the Old English D.

He is one of three players in the 3,000 hit and 500 home run club to have a batting average of .300 (Hank Aaron, Willie Mays) and one of just two players to have 600 doubles (Aaron was the other)
Cabrera in 2012 became the first player to hit for the Triple Crown since Carl Yastrzemski in 1967. He hit .330 with 44 home runs and drove in 139. That season was the first of back-to-back MVPs.
He was the 33rd player in MLB history to have over 3,000 hits. He hit his 3,000 on April 23rd against the Rockies.
