It is being reported by Jeff Goodman that Mike Krzyzewski, who is 74 years old, plans on coaching one last season for the Duke Blue Devils before officially retiring. Krzyzewski has been the cornerstone of college basketball for decades winning five National Championships for the Blue Devils. His record in the NCAA is currently 1170 wins and 361 losses (1,097–302 at Duke). Which is an all-time record for wins in NCAA history at one university. He will be joining Roy Williams, the former coach of Syracuse who retired this year who stands at 903 wins and 264 losses for his all-time record in the NCAA.

Who’s gonna be the next head coach for Duke?

Goodman also reported that the leading candidate to replace Coach K is his current assistant coach Jon Scheyer, a former Duke basketball player who was a two-time captain at Duke during his four years from 2006-2010. Duke also has their sights on Scheyer but have had interviews recently. Those candidates being Tommy Amaker from Harvard and Johnny Dawkins from UCF. As Coach K begins to coach his last season at Duke, three 5-star players and one 4-star player are entering the program. So success in his last year at the helm is completely possible.
