Oilers Top Red Wings 5-2 in Heated Matchup at LCA

The Edmonton Oilers beat the Red Wings 5-2 in what was a chippy matchup. Edmonton handed Detroit their second straight loss, meanwhile has won eight out their last nine games. In a game where Connor McDavid along with Leon Draisaitl were held in check for most of the night, the Red Wings couldn’t bury the Oilers.

In what was a physical game, Detroit matched the intensity. But in the end, the special teams struggles and a collapse defensively brought this game out of reach. Edmonton out shot the Red Wings 32-27 on the night, meanwhile Detroit was 0/5 on the power-play.

These two teams face-off again in nine days. After the last few matchups, we may have a rivalry brewing right before our eyes.

Tyler Bertuzzi opened the scoring for Detroit on overall perfect play by the whole top line. Captain Dylan Larkin spoke after the game on how Bertuzzi’s game is coming together “He’s been getting better. He’s starting to look like himself again.” Larkin also noted how Tyler stayed home during break and worked on his game.
