A tumultuous second period saw the Detroit Red Wings lose their head coach, but a triumphant third period secured a win worth celebrating. Tuesday night’s clash with the Pittsburgh Penguins started strong and concluded with a 7-4 triumph, courtesy of a hat trick from David Perron. Fans taunted Sidney Crosby shortly after Perron’s third goal during an action-packed evening at Little Caesars Arena.

Coach Lalonde Ejected, Red Wings Unfazed

Head coach Derek Lalonde faced ejection after disputing a call on the equalizing goal, which followed earlier scores from Jonatan Berggren, Andrew Copp, and Dominik Kubalik. Despite the setback, the Wings remained determined.

Third Period Seals Win for Red Wings

Perron propelled the Red Wings ahead at 4:05 into the third period, but Josh Archibald responded with a wrap-around goal just 81 seconds later. Soon after, the Wings confronted their sixth penalty kill. Perron struck again during the Wings’ third power play, with only 3:40 left in the game, and completed his hat trick a mere 25 seconds afterward. Dylan Larkin sealed the win with an empty-net goal in the final minute.
