The Detroit Red Wings cruise past the Vancouver Canucks 5-2 for their second straight win heading into a five game road trip. Red Wings’ Captain Dylan Larkin continued his hot streak today, tallying two goals and an assist. Larkin now has 48 points on the year(18G,30A).

Moritz Seider had his 4th multi-point game of the season after tallying two assists early in the first period. Seider is now tied with Nick Lidstrom for most points by a Detroit defenseman before the age of 22. Detroit’s defensive core as a whole combined for six points.

Jonatan Berggren, who has been thriving at the NHL level since being called up from Grand Rapids. Found the back of the net twice today for his 10th goal of the year in just 38 NHL games. Red Wings goaltender Ville Husso had yet another solid performance in net, making 32 saves on the day.

Berger Season Is Upon Us

Jonatan Berggren postgame got praised by both Coach Lalonde along with Dylan Larkin on just how well Berggren is adapting to the next level, meanwhile continuing to be a difference maker for Detroit.

Coach Lalonde: He makes plays, he makes plays in tight areas, he makes plays on the rush. He helps our offense. with his ability to make plays, gain some space. So like the rest of our guys though,  we want him to keep growing away from the puck and some other areas. Probably some things you guys probably don’t even see, which he has been. But now we’re gonna work on some consist consistency with it.

Dylan Larkin: He’s a smart hockey player. His vision and skating is really good, we’re really gonna need him in and the future he’s made a great impact as he gains more experience he’s just gonna get better and it’s gonna help our team a lot.

Red Wings Injury Update

The Wings were without both Jake Walman (Upper body) and Lucas Raymond (Lower body) today. Both Raymond and Walman are listed as day-to-day. Coach Lalonde gave an update post game on both skaters:

Raymond is day-to-day lower body. He tried a little twirl this morning, wasn’t unable to go. Same with Walman day-to -day. Not a shoulder injury though, I know our guy made sure it’s an upper body. But it’s clearly not a shoulder injury. Over 24 hours to lose a first liner and a top pair d is not easy. Although I thought our guys obviously did well finding a way to win today. But as for those two, they are truly day to day.
