Red Wings Fight Back to End Losing Streak, Chiasson Shines in LCA Debut

The Detroit Red Wings were able to snap their six game losing streak in dramatic fashion as they rallied late in the third period to defeat the Chicago Blackhawks 4-3. Making his debut at Little Caesars Arena, Alex Chiasson made a big impact on the game, tallying two assists, including a beautiful no look pass to set up Dylan Larkin for a power play goal.

In his postgame remarks, Alex Chiasson shared his thoughts on his memorable debut at LCA meanwhile the team’s hard-earned victory over the Blackhawks.”Yeah, it was a special night. Obviously you know playing in this building, with this jersey, all that first home game. It’s been the emotional rollercoaster for the past couple days. But when you grow up and play there is just nothing like the NHL. Just the atmosphere, the compete level and obviously winning tonight was  kind of the cherry on top. It makes it so much better.”

Coaches Comments

Following the game, Head Coach Derek Lalonde commented on the Red Wings’ rally and emphasized the significance of securing a victory in the contest. “You know, the message to the guys after is, we talked about not giving up on the season or feeling sorry for ourselves in the season. That was the perfect example on tonight’s game. You know, we come outta the first period 2-0, It was tough to swallow. We have an unbelievable second 2-2 and then we find ourselves down in the third killing a penalty that late in the game. That was a tough situation. We got through it and our guys just kept pushing and found a way. So really give the guys credit on the overall effort tonight they got to deserved.”

Fabbri Goes Down

The atmosphere at Little Caesars Arena was tense as Robby Fabbri left the ice with what appeared to be a knee injury. Fabbri, who has endured multiple knee injuries throughout his career, has been an integral part of the Red Wings’ success in the second half of the season since returning from injury. His presence on the ice has been crucial to the team’s offensive output and his absence would undoubtedly be a major blow as they try to finish off the season on a high note. All eyes will now be on the team’s medical staff as they evaluate the extent of Fabbri’s injury.
