The Detroit Red Wings experienced a mix of highs and lows throughout the 2022-23 season. However, towards the end of the season, despite the team being nearly dismantled at the Trade deadline. The current roster consisting of the team’s future managed to string together good wins against top teams, thus creating momentum that could potentially carry into the next season. Even though the team was eliminated from the playoffs as of yesterday. There is hope that things will be different by the same time next year.

Following the Red Wings’ shootout loss to Buffalo last night. Dylan Larkin, the team’s captain, was asked if being eliminated from the playoffs felt different this time around and how the experience will benefit the young players on the team. In response, he said.

“I think there’s certainly more hope for next season. Even tonight’s game, we had the message where we’re gonna be battling with these guys. You know we, we weren’t good against them this year, but tonight was certainly better. It was certainly better battle level. We were much more engaged tonight.”

It’s a great experience for those guys. Bergy’s been with us a little bit longer than Simon, but, I’ve been really impressed with both those guys. They’ve come in and just worked and it’s exciting for the future.”

Larkin has consistently emphasized the importance of playing meaningful games, and when asked if the team achieved that goal this year, while also accomplishing their objective, he replied by stating. ”

Pretty much, yeah. It’s certainly closer that the closest we’ve been in, in a long time. You know, you guys saw emotion around the trade deadline and that stung our locker room for awhile. It took us a few weeks to kind of dig ourselves out of that, and kind of feel normal again. iIt’s hard when you lose that many guys. The guys that have come up and have had injuries as well. But the guys that have come up have done a great job battling.
