Former UFC Middleweight title challenger Yoel Romero has agreed to sign a multi-fight deal with Bellator MMA. The deal comes less than two weeks after the UFC and Romero parted ways.
Romero Expected To Debut At Light Heavyweight
Romero started his career at 205lbs and according to sources he will be returning to the division with his Bellator debut. Initially, Bellator declined on signing Yoel, but after further talks both parties were able to come to an agreement. Although Yoel is no longer in the UFC, at 43-years-old Yoel is still a dangerous fighter in any division. The move to Bellator will serve him well in my opinion and it will be interesting to see who will step up and take a fight against Yoel in his debut.
After suffering losses from Adesanya, Costa, and Whittaker, The Soldier of God was released from his contract with the UFC. Romero is a part of the 60 fighters that will be released in the UFC in 2020. This is a huge addition to the Bellator roster. Scott Coker will most likely sweep up a couple more former UFC fighters as the roster dwindles. Sure, UFC veterans might not be able to hang in the UFC, but that doesn鈥檛 mean they should hang up the gloves for good. Fighters like Donald Cowboy Cerrone have some miles left, but just not in the UFC.
