Red Wings – Ducks Recap

The Detroit Red Wings power play remains hot, which keyed an easy 5-1 victory Monday night over the Anaheim Ducks at the LCA.

Captain Dylan Larkin, power play specialist David Perron and Dominik Kubalik scored power play goals as the Wings broke a 1-1 tie and never looked back, proving that this team not only can get off to a good start during games, but can close them out also.

Perron leads the team with four goals through five games.

Joe Veleno scored his first goal of the year in the second period. Kubalik continues to be a dangerous man on the power play. He scored his third of the year on a feed from Oskar Sundqvist for his team leading eighth point. Kubalik has had three straight multi-point games.

Red Wings’ Special Teams STAYS HOT

Detroit’s PK was the worst in all of NHL last year, only killing 73.8 % of penalties on the year. Coach Lalonde spoke special team’s performance, saying it was an “assistant coach’s win”. Detroit has started a perfect 17/17 on the penalty kill through 5 games, in addition, they have scored 5 goals on the power play within the last 3 games.
