The Best RAW of 2023?

58

Is RAW a good show? Are we living in an alternate reality? Maybe or maybe Triple H is just that good at what he does. Here’s your WWE RAW recap for February 6th, 2023! (How is it already February?)

Elimination Chamber Qualifying Matches

Damian Preist beats Angelo Dawkins

Montez Ford beats Elias

Carmella beats Piper Niven, Mia Yim & Candice LeRae

The Men’s Elimination Chamber is going to be really exciting this year. There are lots of young talent shining in what should be a very unpredictable match. Priest, Montez, and Bronson Reed will have good showings, but to me Rollins, Gargano and Theory are the favorites. Does Theory defend the U.S. Championship against John Cena at WrestleMania? Possibly Rollins takes the title and faces Logan Paul? What about the wildcard in Johnny Gargano? Very interesting stuff here.

How about that woman’s division man? It’s a beautiful thing to see. All these women are getting to shine and being presented seriously. This is a really solid field of contestants, but to me, Asuka and Raquel Rodriguez are the standout favorites. Either woman would be a great challenger to Bianca Belair at WrestleMania, and I think we are all excited to see what these six women can do on February 18th.

The Judgement Day & Edge Continue to Feud

This was a really great opener to RAW. The Judgment Day has been getting great heat, and a lot of that is to the credit of Dominick Mysterio.  Bálor, Dom, and Priest all took their shots at Edge, before the “Rated R-Superstar” clapped back. There were some superb jabs taken here, and it set up up the Damian Preist and Angelo Dawkins match that followed very well.

Edge and Beth Phoenix will take on Finn Bálor and Rhea Ripley at the Elimination Chamber Premium Live Event, which will more than likely lead to a WrestleMania showdown between Edge and Balor.

Promo of the Year?

Cody Rhodes and Paul Heyman putting their heads together and cutting a promo, hyping the WrestleMania showdown between Reigns and Rhodes. Words can’t really do it justice, but I guess I can try.

If WWE continues to book Cody like this, they will not have to worry about fans turning on him. This was excellent in every way, especially bringing up the history of Dusty Rhodes training WWE superstars like Seth Rollins, Becky Lynch and Roman Reigns. This made me more excited to see Reigns and Rhodes at WrestleMania, so I would call this a successful segment.

Becky Lynch Wins Because of Lita?!

This was a rather shocking outcome. I thought Bayley would get the cheap win, leading to another match at WrestleMania. While I still think the rematch is going to happen, I’m interested to see how WWE gets there.

Lita was a nice surprise and will give the feud a reason to continue. I’m expecting a Hell in a Cell rematch at Mania, with Lynch winning to end the feud.

Final Thoughts on RAW

There were some other small developments on RAW as well. Cedric Alexander and Shelton Benjamin beat Alpha Academy. Bobby Lashley and Brock Lesnar will have a contract signing at Elimination Chamber, as both men cut really solid promos on each other.

Asuka beat Chelsea Green and Baron Corbin lost to Dexter Lumis, which is an interesting development as JBL broke up with Baron Corbin after the show.

I really enjoyed this show man and if you are a fan that hasn’t watched in years, or sometimes pays attention to what is going on, I think you should give WWE your full attention. A three-hour show is a lot to ask someone to sit through, but Triple H has probably done the best he can at making RAW fly by. Great show this week!
