The G.O.A.T Is Crowned! UFC 285 Post Fight Results

Last night was an incredible night for the UFC. UFC 285 took place in Las Vegas at the T-Mobile Arena and included two title fights.

Bo Nickal vs Jamie Pickett

Bo Nickal’s debut in the UFC was definitely not a long one. Middleweights Bo Nickel and Jamie Pickett opened up the UFC 285 main card, which only lasted around 3 minutes.

Nickal put on the pressure and took control of the fight when he landed a takedown in the first moments of the fight. The takedown led to an arm triangle, which caused Jamie Pickett to tap out.

The hype is real, and Bo Nickal showcased this Saturday that he is capable of handling UFC talent.

Mateusz Gamrot vs Jalin Turner

The second fight of UFC 285 included lightweights Mateusz Gamrot and Jalin Turner. This three-round fight was competitive and resulted in a split-decision win for Gamrot.

Jalin Turner showed flashes of his striking ability every time both fighters were standing. Turner even landed the only knockdown in the fight. On the other hand, Gamrot found all his success in the four takedowns he landed on Turner.

Geoff Neal vs Shavkat Rakhmonov

The “fight of the night” included welterweights Geoff Neal and Shavkat Rakhmonov.

Both fighters landed hard punches on their opponent, but Shavkat always had the upper hand. Rounds 1 and 2 were heavily sided towards Shavkat, where he landed double of Neals’s punches.

Moving forward, round three was the turning point of the fight. Geoff Neal was fighting mainly off his backfoot, which eventually resulted in the finish. Shavkat took Geoff Neal’s back and submitted him with a standing rear naked choke.

Valentina Shevchenko vs Alexa Grasso

The co-main event of UFC 285 resulted in one of the biggest upsets in UFC history. The #6-ranked flyweight Alexa Grasso submitted champion Valentina Shevchenko in the fourth round.

Before the submission, Valentina had control of the whole fight, landing four takedowns and out-striking Grasso. Valentina attempted a spinning kick, which missed and allowed Grasso to land a takedown. After some control time on the ground, Grasso sunk in the rear naked choke and became the women’s flyweight champion.

Jon Jones vs Ciryl Gane

Former light heavyweight champion Jon “Bones” Jones returned after a three-year layoff to become the heavyweight champion. And it only took him two minutes!

Last night, Jon Jones shocked the world by moving up to a heavier weight class and fighting a true competitor. In the first round, Jones slipped a punch from Gane, which led to a takedown. After posturing up, Jones sunk in a Guillotine Choke, which caused Gane to tap out.

After the win, Jon Jones called out the former champion, Stipe Miocic. The fight is projected to take place in July during international fight week.
