The Road to the Stanley Cup: Woodward Sports NHL Playoff Predictions

24

With the commencement of the Stanley Cup Playoffs today, we’re hoping this will be the final season without playoffs in Hockeytown. However, for the time being, I took a tour of our office and queried our staff about their Stanley Cup final predictions and who they believe will ultimately take home the coveted cup.

Tom Mazawey – (Ermanni & Edwards with Maz)

Stanley Cup Finals Prediction: Edmonton Oilers vs New York Rangers

Stanley Cup Winner: New York Rangers

“I’m sticking my original pick at the start of the season and that is, the New York Rangers. I think Edmonton finally makes the jump, I mean a Canadian team has to win someday right? But I’m hoping for the Rangers to take home the cup.”

Matt Broder – (Staff Writer)

Stanley Cup Finals Prediction: Edmonton Oilers vs Boston Bruins

Stanley Cup Winner: Edmonton Oilers

“The Oilers have the NHL’s most potent offense, and it’s difficult to picture any team slowing down Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl.  Edmonton added size on the defensive end before the trade deadline (Vincent Desharnais and Mattias Ekholm) to be able to withstand a long series versus the NHL’s best. I believe this is the year that Connor McDavid hoists Lord Stanley.”

Jeff Iafrate – (Morning Woodward Show)

Stanley Cup Finals Prediction: Colorado Avalanche vs Boston Bruins

Stanley Cup Winner: Boston Bruins

I’m gonna go with Boston. Obviously they’ve been the best team all year, they just have unreal depth. In a loaded Eastern Conference, I don’t think anyone can go toe-to-toe in a seven game series.  Not to mention, seeing Bertuzzi go there has me rooting for him to a get a Cup.”

Spencer Raxter – (Woodward Heavyweights)

Stanley Cup Finals Prediction: Carolina Hurricanes vs Vegas Golden Knights

Stanley Cup Winner: Carolina Hurricanes

“They’re skilled, they have a lot guys that could get hot and carry them through a series. And besides Boston I don’t think anyone can come out of the East besides them. Plus their jerseys are sick.”
