Its that time of year! When we can start looking at your Fantasy Football teams for next season. Especially if you are in a dynasty league like I am. Now is when you can start pin pointing your targets for the next season.
Last year I’d say the initial rankings turned out to be pretty accurate. I think I was one of the few that had Kenneth Walker as the #1 overall pick. Here was my prediction on Walker:
“1. Kenneth Walker Jr. – RB – SEA
I’m not sure why people aren’t hopping all over the Walker train. He had by far the best landing spot of any of the RBs in the draft. Not only will the Seahawks lean heavy on the run game due to Russel Wilson’s exit, but I’m also hearing rumor’s of Seattle cutting Chris Carson to save $10 Million. If that happens Walker is not only the Top RB in this Dynasty Rooke Draft, he should be considered a Top 10 back in redraft leagues.”
This year I am already seeing Walker ranked at a Top 10 overall pick, not just Top 10 at Running Back. So lets take a look at an early Top 10 list for Dynasty Fantasy Football. (Reminder these will change after the NFL draft, landing spot has a lot to do with usage.)
Top 10 NFL Rookie Dynasty Rankings:
10. Michael Mayer – TE – 6’4″ – Notre Dame
Usually a TE in Fantasy Football take a few years to develop. This could be a sneaky pick in the late 1st round if you are in need and can be patient. I’ve seen some mocks with him going to the Bengals. That would be a nice landing spot for Mayer.
9. Zach Charbonnet – RB – 6″1″ – ULCA
If you’re from the Michigan area you recognize the name. Zach transferred to UCLA and showed he can be a big powerful back. I’d keep an eye on where he lands. He could be a goal line monster.
8. Kendre Miller – RB – 6’0″ – TCU
Kendre Miller rushed for almost 1200 yards this past season and showed he can be a bell cow. If he can work on his pass blocking he could be a 3 down back in the NFL.
7. Jordan Addison – WR – 6’0″ – USC
Biletnikoff Award winner at Pitt. Transfers to USC and took a small step back. He has the talent averaging over 14 yards per catch last season. Will be a nice addition to any offense.
6. Zach Evans – RB – 6’0″ – Old Miss
Evans has been a 5 star recruit since he was in diapers. He went to TCU and then Old Miss. Zach has great speed and falls forward on most runs. He has the talent to be the immediate starter on the right team.
5. Quentin Johnston – WR – 6’4′ – TCU
Michigan fans close your eyes. This is the guy that got loose all over the U of M secondary.
Made Bruce Feldman’s Freak’s List at #23. He wrote “Johnston, at 6-4, 210, is a remarkable athlete. He has vertical-jumped 42 inches and broad-jumped 11 feet. He’s clocked a 4.4 40 and back-squatted 575 pounds. Despite missing three games in 2021, he still made first-team All-Big 12. Johnston’s 33 catches went for 634 yards and six touchdowns.”
4. Jaxon Smith-Njigba – WR – 6’1″ -OSU
Can the Buckeyes WR got 3 for 3 with Olave, Wilson and Smith-Njigba? He has the talent and the speed. He will be a volume WR in the NFL. Amon-Ra St. Brown type of ceiling.
3. Jalin Hyatt – WR – 6’0″ – TENN
This is one to watch! I love guys that can go to decent programs and help make them élite while they are there. Hyatt has the speed and long arms to make up for some of his lack in size. This is a sleeper.
2. Jahmyr Gibbs – RB – 5’11” – ALA
As a junior Gibbs saw action in 11 games for Bama. He ran for an impressive 850 yards on 136 attempts for an elite 6.3 ypc, with 7 TDs, with no fumbles. As a receiver, he made a decent 42 receptions for 378 yards. He could arguably be the #1 pick off the board in Dynasty Fantasy Football.
1. Bijan Robinson – RB – 6’0″ – Texas
How many times have you heard it? ” The best RB since Saquon Barkley.” Time will tell but all the measurables are there. Robinson is simply a monster. And the way RB fall in the NFL draft right now he could even end up with a team like the Detroit Lions with a top 5 O-Line. That’s a scary thought. Bijan will produce no matter he goes.
