The Detroit Lions stomped on the playoff dreams of the Green Bay Packers on their own turf on Sunday and Twitter is going nuts. The win not only eliminated the Packers from playoff contention but left the Lions with a winning record for the first time since Jim Caldwell. Oh, and not to mention, they did it on Prime Time.
Defensively, the team absolutely understood the assignment. They came into this game not hungry, but starving. They kept the Lions in the game while the offense struggled to figure it out.
Kerby Joseph recorded his third interception against Aaron Rodgers and the fourth of his career, while Aidan Hutchinson recorded two sacks on Rodgers, upping his sack count to 9.5 for his rookie season.
Offensively, Jamaal Williams was a monster. He was responsible for both of the Lions’ touchdowns in today’s game, surpassing the goat, Barry Sanders, and setting a new franchise record for the most rushing touchdowns in a single season with 17. His 72 rushing yards in the game also surged his total rushing yards this season over the 1,000-yard mark for the first time in his career.
Williams’ passionate speech breaking down a practice during training camp is one that has lingered all season. After tonight’s game, he was emotional yet again. This time, many things came into account, most notably the fact he was playing for his great-grandfather whom he had just lost. To end his interview on the Sunday Night Football broadcast he had a message for everyone:
“We the Detroit Lions. Stop playing with us.”
While the Lions aren’t getting to the playoffs either, they showed the world they are no longer the “Same Old Lions.” The resilient team came all the way from starting the season 1-6, to finishing 9-8. Playoffs would have been great, but seeing the changes happening within the organization is even better.
You can bet your bottom dollar the crazy Honolulu Blue Kool-Aid drinkers were watching. And let me tell you, they were ecstatic to crush the dreams of Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers. Here’s what they had to say on Twitter:

Aaron Rodgers didn’t want to give the Detroit Lions credit when they beat him earlier this season. So they went into his house, kicked his butt again and ended his playoff hopes.
