Twitter Reacts to Lions New Year’s Victory

47

The Detroit Lions rang in the New Year with a feast as they tore the Chicago Bears apart 41-10 on Sunday.  The annihilation and possibility of a playoff run for the Lions has Twitter absolutely blowing up this evening.

The Lions came into this game following the absolute worst performance of the 2022 season.  They were chewed up and spit out by the Carolina Panthers on Christmas Eve.  Clearly, it was a game that lit a fire inside each and every one of them, because the team that showed up today was NOT the “Same Old Lions.”

The offense was unstoppable, and the defense didn’t let up a single score after the first quarter.  Head Coach Dan Campbell says it was the bounceback this team needed.

“I was proud of our coaches, I was proud of our team. We bounced back and I knew we would because of the guys we have on this team, man, they went to work, they trusted us, we went full pads on Wednesday and said we’re going to get our identity back. And we’re going to recalibrate and those guys did that. They trusted us and they came out and it looked like that. It looked like we were ready to go. It looked like we were more physical. So, I was proud of them.”

The rookies showed up and showed out in this game.  Aidan Hutchinson, Josh Paschal, and James Houston were electric.  Hutch recorded a sack, a fumble recovery, and an interception.  Paschal recorded two sacks, and James Houston tallied 3 sacks, 2 TFLs, and a forced fumble.  Hutchinson spoke in the locker room about his success this season, saying he’s just doing his thing.

“It’s crazy. I’ve never touched the ball this much. Balls on the ground, balls in the air, I feel like I got a chance. So, it’s fun. It’s crazy to hear that stat, but I’m just out here doing my thing.”

Offensively, Jared Goff was able to find 10 different receivers and didn’t even use all of the tools in the tool belt.  Brock Wright and D’Andre Swift came out with two touchdowns a piece, and Jamaal Williams was able to run the ball in for one touchdown in typical Jamaal fashion.  The Lions were even able to put Nate Sudfeld in for two drives which is something they haven’t done yet this season.

The Lions and their playoff hopes gear up to play their final regular season game at Lambeau Field against the Green Bay Packers either Saturday or Sunday.  The way this team is playing, the possibilities, and the natural Honolulu Kool-Aid drinkers have broken Twitter this evening.
