UFC 284 Post Fight Results

UFC 284 took place in Perth, Australia, and the main card did not disappoint.

Jimmy Crute vs Alonzo Menifield

The UFC 284 main card opened up with an absolute banger of a fight. Jimmy Crute and Alonzo Menifield, both light heavyweights, fought three rounds to a draw.

The first round started with hard blows from Menifield but led to an important takedown by Jimmy Crute. After a few grappling exchanges, Menifield gained control and ended the round with strong blows.

It was looking like a clear win for Menifield up until the third round. During the third, Jimmy Crute went for a takedown and Alonzo grabbed the fence, leading to a point deduction. This was a huge mistake from Alonzo, which helped make this fight end in a draw.

Justin Tafa vs Parker Porter

This heavyweight matchup did not take long to end. After a few trading blows, Justin Tafa lands a two-piece combination to knock out Parker Porter. The matchup between the fighters only lasted one minute and six seconds.

Jack Della Maddalena vs Randy Brown

Another quick finish in the UFC 284 main card. Welterweights Randy Brown and Jack Della Maddalena lasted a quick two-and-a-half minutes in the first round.

After a few striking exchanges, Maddalena landed a looping hook to rock Randy Brown to the ground. After a vicious ground and pound, Maddalena sunk in a rear naked choke to submit Randy Brown.

Yair Rodriguez vs Josh Emmett

The co-main event for UFC 284 ended in a submission in the second round.

Featherweights Yair Rodriguez and Josh Emmett had a competitive first round filled with heavy shots and takedowns. Yair Rodriguez found success with body kicks that eventually hurt Emmett.

In the second round, Yair landed a vicious flying knee, which led to a triangle choke by Yair. Yair Rodriguez is now the interim featherweight champion.

Alexander Volkanovski vs Islam Makhachev

In the main event of UFC 284, Volkanovski and Makhachev fought all five rounds.

Featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski moved up in weight and tested his skills at 155. All five rounds were close, but in the end, lightweight champion Islam Makhachev won via decision.

Volkanovski outstruck the champ by almost a total of 70 strikes, but Islam’s takedown and control time helped him secure the victory. Islam landed four takedowns with almost seven minutes of control time.

Islam Makhachev remains the lightweight champion and is now the number one pound-for-pound fighter in the UFC.
