The cursed match up between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson is a fight Dana White wants to see still, and he’s willing to book it by any means necessary. During an interview with Sports Illustrated, White stated the UFC is currently working on a fight for Tony Ferguson. Should both Khabib and Ferguson win their bouts MMA fans could potentially see the match being booked for a sixth time.
If Khabib does beat Gaethe, you get Tony Ferguson another fight, which we’re working on right now. And hopefully that fight with Khabib happens because I know people want to see it. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a fight fall apart as many times as those two. It almost scares me to make the fight again. What’s going to happen? An asteroid comes to earth? That’s the level of bad this thing is.

Since losing to Justin Gaethje at UFC 249, the MMA world has been wondering what is next for El Cucuy. Before the loss, Ferguson was on a 12 fight win streak with notable wins over Kevin Lee, Edson Barboza, and Anthony Pettis. Khabib is currently riding a 28-0 record and is set to put his title on the line against Justin Gaethje.
Sure, Ferguson lost and we don’t know what is going to happen at UFC 254, but the potential Khabib vs Ferguson fight is worth booking for a sixth time. Regardless of records, the two fighters need to face each other after years and years of trash talk. I don’t care if Khabib and Tony go on to lose their next 5 fights in a row, I need to see Khabib vs Ferguson. With Fergson being a submission and striking specialist, and Khabib dominating 28 fights in a row, this fight needs to happen to put the talk to rest.
A lot of puzzle pieces needs to be put in place for this fight to actually happen. Before Khabib even thinks of retirement he needs to fight Ferguson. The fight has been booked and canceled for five years. It’s time to finally make it happen, no matter what.
