“The Pistons, NOT LIONS, are detroit’s most exciting team!”
It’s the Detroit Pistons. That is the thing that makes me feel good about the Detroit sports scene. For the first time in my life, this team has the reasoning and the assets to go get a genuine superstar to pair with another superstar in Cade Cunningham. Names of past champions like Kawhi Leonard and Kevin Durant have been linked to my team. That alone tells you where this organization is headed. For the first time since 2006, I believe my team can win a championship. And honestly, even if Durant comes and they don’t win a ring, it is the belief that I enjoy the most. It’s a feeling I haven’t had since I was a kid.
That’s the part I keep coming back to. Even if they don’t land the superstar this summer, the appetite is there now. The front office wants to win, the front office is aggressive, and for a franchise that’s spent most of two decades just trying to be relevant that satiating enough. The aggressiveness of the Detroit Pistons is my favorite thing about Detroit sports right now.
