Ebuka Okorie, Detroit Pistons WIN SUMMER LEAGUE GAME 2
Las Vegas, Nevada – The Detroit Pistons defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 103-94 behind the hot hand of Chaz Lanier.
Chaz Lanier stole the show for the Detroit Pistons with 17 points in the first quarter of game 2.
Las Vegas is no stranger to hot temperatures outside, but Lanier brought fire power inside UNLV’s Thomas and Mack Center from the opening tip.
His first quarter was good enough for most prospects full game stats. Lanier made 6 of 8 shots with five from behind the arc. He was the literal definition of SCORCHING!
Rookie Ebuka Okorie struggled the opening half scoring the ball as efficiently as he did in the first game. He scored 9 points to go with 2 assists, but he did play active defense with a couple steals.
Motor City Cruise Players Isaac Jones and Brice Williams looked in mid-season form as Pistons pushed out to a near double digit lead.
The Cruise trio naturally paced the Pistons lead throughout the second half as the game turned physical.
The refs let a little more contact go in the paint which seemed to greatly effect the finishing ability of Okorie. He did manage to draw a few fouls, but looking forward to how he responds in game 3.
Chaz Lanier hit his seventh three pointer with just under 4 minutes left in the game to push the lead to 92-81 . That pushed his point total to 25 as he finished the game as hot as he started it.
Okorie finished the game with 13 points, 3 rebounds and 8 assists. Including an and-1 layup with 32 seconds left in the game to push the lead to 103-91.
Most importantly, he got the win.
Detroit Pistons on the Scene
Cade Cunningham, Ron Holland, Ausar Thompson and Javonte Green got social media buzzing when they showed up to game 1.
Game 2 drew out Daniss Jenkins, Tolu Smith and newcomer Gary Harris. They were joined by team owner Tom Gores who sat court side, but later joined the crew on the baseline.
In my years coming Summer League in Las Vegas, I don’t recall many team owners being in attendance.
